A retired CIA agent is haunted by the agency he once worked for and his own nightmares when an unknown man pays him an unexpected visit after nearly three decades. Production was suspended in March 2020 due to government restrictions. During this time, Jeff Bridges was diagnosed and treated for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Bridges called the comeback after a “long weekend”. Appeared at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards (2024). The first two parts are great.

So far, Casting has been excellent in the series and the acting has been done very well by the experienced professionals. Amy Frederica Brenneman was needed for this show; The mystery in Amy’s character brings this just like in HBO’s The Leftovers. The sense of vulnerability plays so well with Jeff Bridges, even though Jeff wants to “go to hell.” It’s for Zoe McDonald, Amy’s character has real chemistry as the two actresses play off each other.
This is excellent network television
The Old Man has very clever writing, which is enhanced by the talent of the Ensemble. This thriller is moving in a fascinating direction, I am very curious to see how this series unfolds! Can’t wait for the next episode! Premiere 10.8.
